A couple of days ago, I received my Official Sample Ballot for the finale in the California gubernatorial recall circus.
Besides all of the known clowns, here are some of the other candidates:
Brooke Adams (I), business executive (is that this Brooke Adams?)
Edward Kennedy (D), businessman/educator (isn’t this guy already screwing up some other state?)
Trek Thunder Kelly (I), business executive/artist (I just liked the name 'cause it's Trek)
Robert Dole (R), small business owner (I’m not kidding)
Ned Roscoe (L), cigarette retailer (Acidman's member is running and promises a cigarette after every…!)
Michael Jackson (R), satellite project manager (well that figures, the satellite part, I mean)
Since this recall thing came up, I’ve been torn as to what to do. Initially, I was happy that California Governor Gray Davis was getting what he deserved. However, he did win the regular election by whatever slim margin, and, in spite of the provision in the California Constitution for recalls, the whole thing has the smell of an attempt to overturn an election. I didn’t sign a petition.
But, many more Californians did and the recall is on. And after this and this, Davis deserves the boot. (Is he trying to get back at us for not wanting him? Is this like that scene in Waiting to Exhale when Angela Bassett's character sets fire to her cheating husband's possessions?)
Will I do my civic duty? You betcha. I just haven't figured out how yet.
