“Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him I confess also before my Father which is in Heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 10:32-33)
Jesus said unto them, “If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from the God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.” (John 8:42)Said by Jesus:
“And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you.” (John 16:23)Foretelling of his execution and resurrection:
Then saith Jesus unto them, “All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
“But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.” (Matthew 26: 31-32)The chief priests and elders come to arrest Jesus. After Peter cuts off the ear of the servant of the high priest and Jesus heals the ear, he says to Peter:
“Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?” (Matthew 26:53)Sounds like Jesus thought that he was Someone Extremely Important, more than just your average Old Testament prophet.
For a guy to believe such things about himself, he had to be either a raging delusional whack-job or who he claimed to be, no in-betweens. For the rest of us, it’s our job to look at the evidence and decide which is true.
