Long Run
While taking yet another masterful jab yesterday at one Michael Moore, James Lileks points out that Someone doesn’t like ugly, using a Moore-cited incident that Moore, predictably, views in the short-run. I'll refrain from spelling out the ugly aspects of Mr. Moore.
Interesting side note: the man who was being attacked was named Ted Landsmark [a black man]. He spent part of his youth in Harlem. He later went on to Yale, to get a BA in Political Science, then got a PhD at Boston U. He is presently the president and CEO of the Boston Architectural Center, and has received fellowships from the National Science Foundation. (The Bush administration requested a three percent increase in their funding in the last budget.) The man in the photo wielding the flag was Joseph Rakes, who when last heard from was a laborer on the Big Dig in Boston [a white man]. Ted Landsmark is writing opinion pieces for the Globe about the nature of the art and landscaping that will go on top of the tunnel.God is, most definitely, a strategic thinker.

Hi Juliette,
Thanks for visiting my blog. Life has been busy but I do want to update it more often. (the bane of bloggers...life...)
This was a very interesting entry. I find it also interesting that Landsmark (and what a perfect name for him) is in the business of building and designing new environments and Rakes (again, another perfect name) was interviewed while burying a highway.
At the risk of sounding totally sappy, it is my deepest hope that we have more "bridge-builders" for relationships rather than those who tear things down and erect walls.

I don't get it? Its ok because in the long run the guy who was attacked did well? Isn't that further reason for why there shouldn't be attacks? Because we are hurting the future?
