Michelle Malkin highlights articles by Time Magazine and the Atlantic Monthly regarding the seizure of Al Queada’s computer files. From the Atlantic Monthly:
There were also video files, photographs, scanned documents, and Web pages, many of which, it became clear, were part of the group's increasingly sophisticated efforts to conduct a global Internet-based publicity and recruitment effort. The most amazing factor of all of this is that Islamists have access to all of the technology that the western world uses to build itself up, to create, to invent, and to gain knowledge. With all of these means and possessing one of the most in-demand natural resources in the world, they could build their various countries into powerhouses that rival, even surpass western nations (and Japan, South Korea, etc.) in productivity. Yet, they choose to use the technology to exhort others to annihilate those of us who refuse to submit to Allah, believing that if they make the world over for Allah—by either killing or converting the Infidel--that he will grant them the wealth and success akin to that of the Infidel.
They are attempting to shape the world as they wish it to be. Or rather, to un-shape it (thanks, Stephen King). To unshape anything requires no great effort. All it takes is a hammer. Or an explosive. Note that Iran is trying to acquire nuclear weapons, rather than acquiring new building construction technology that could avert another mass casualty tally. ("If you nuke it, Allah will come.")
Many unshapers are rational, or rather, rational in their evil. These are not. How could a culture that worships death, even for its own adherents, be rational? Attempting to take down the western world has a certain twisted logic to it. Envy makes sense. However, where’s the logic in exterminating the pastoral black Africans in Sudan, many of whom are Muslims themselves?
Those who are in Evil’s grip won’t comprehend that the very tools that they use to destroy “Allah’s enemies” are the very same ones they could use to best those “enemies” by turning their own societies around. On some level, we need recognize that the main goal of Evil is destruction for its own sake.
