A week or so ago, La Shawn asked all and sundry bloggers about their posting habits. I replied to her in email, stating that I usually did not post a notice that I would be taking a break.
Well, it looks as though I’ll have to break my own rule and post that break notice. My temporary employment—while putting money in my pocket—also leaves me with little time to check out the happenings in the world and/or to see what bees are in the bonnets of other bloggers.
I’d love to post an extended comment on the Infamous Thirteen who voted against the nomination of now Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. I’d love to go on about the cognitive dissonance of knowing that former Klan Kleagle Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV)—of “white ni**er" fame—is among the Thirteen to vote against the first black woman nominated for SOS.
As it has been with all of the others, my heart feels the loss of the thirty Marines and one sailor who died in a helicopter crash yesterday.
And what to make of the cretin who decided to leave his Jeep Cherokee on a Glendale, CA railroad track, after deciding not kill himself? Instead of offing himself, he offs eleven others; and how many more will die? (Not a death penalty case in my opinion, however.)
Lastly, I am excited and fearful for the Iraqis as they prepare for their first democratic election in fifty years, while the terrorists in their midst continue to commit atrocity after atrocity upon them.
All of these topics deserve more than I am able to give them.
So, I’ll be posting mostly on weekends for at least a month. By the way, if you’re willing and able to contribute to my free time for posting, I’d be very grateful.
That said, see you Saturday!
