Poor Carly Fiorina. She didn't achieve the goals that were set out for her at HP, and so she's been fired. Oh, but don't you feel sorry for her:
She will receive $14 million in severance pay and a $7.4 million bonus for 2004...
Wowee! Most people I know who have been fired receive a much difference severance package. This package usually includes an escort from the building with a nice security guard and - if they're lucky - a week or two worth of salary.
It must be ever so lovely to be an executive and know that, even if you're a complete failure at the task assigned to you, you'll still get more money than most people will earn in their lifetimes. I'd love to know how the rank-and-file at HP feel knowing that they'll struggle for their measly annual raise this year even if they've put in a spectacular year; while Carly Fiorina can do an arguably bad job and pull down over $20 Million.
