I rarely get migraines, but when I do get one, it’s a dozy. This one crept up from the base of my skull, took a leisurely circling about my right ear and wrapped itself lovingly around my right eye socket. And that was just yesterday. Sleep and pain-killers did nothing. (Actually, I think it’s my eyes in need of a stronger pair of glasses.)
So now you know why I’ve been prone to short semi-pithy posts of late. Plus, the only thing I’ve been able to think about news-wise is you-know-what. I’ve said that Ms. Schiavo’s death was an ending—for her. However, it’s a beginning of something for us. I don’t know what that something is, but if it’s worse that the rabidity, vitriol, high-handedness and general dumbth—to borrow a word from the late Steve Allen—that I’ve seen from both sides of this controversy, then a splitting headache will be the least of anyone’s worries.
Some conservatives called Florida Governor Jeb Bush a wimp for not behaving like a storm trooper, while one blogger-- in a disgustingly cynical ploy to get hits--publicly de-linked big bloggers for not toeing the Christian/rightwing party line to their liking; proof that becoming Christian doesn’t make one immune to being a jerk. When you want to say to certain people “stay off my side,” you know that they are doing your position no favors.
Didn’t do anything for Terri’s position either.
So what will happen next in the matter? The heck if I know. Now that my head has stopped hurting, I’m just going to go to the optometrist, pray, read the Bible and read “Men in Black (among other stuff). Oh, yes and update my will. What I won't do: cut off communications with those who don't see things my way.
