Okay, Randall Terry is a cynical opportunist. Happy now? That doesn’t change what I think about the Schiavo case.
When Pope John Paul II, George W. Bush, Ralph Nader and another cynical opportunist, Jesse Jackson, agree on any subject, it is a strong indicator that this thing is about far more than religion or partisan politics.
I bet that the members of the Schindler family didn’t care that Randall Terry and Jesse Jackson are figurative mirror-images of each other (though Terry seems to be of more use than Jackson). All the Schindlers care about is getting that tube back in before it’s too late and whoever might be able to make that happen is a friend.
Certainly it's too much to hope that all sides stop pushing their various agendas over someone's failing body. It hasn't happen for those who have given their lives and have been injured in Operation Iraqi Freedom; it won't happen here.
