President Bush nominated Harriet Miers, his White House Counsel, to be an associate justice on the Supreme Court. Watching and listening to the reporting and opining on the choice is illuminating. Did you know that the retiring Sandra Day O’Connor’s seat on the court is now a “woman’s seat” henceforth and forevermore? It now has the designation ♀ next to it.
When did that happen?
UPDATE: Liberals are happy with the choice, conservatives aren't. Uh oh.
Chris Cilliza points out that Ms. Miers donated to Democrat presidential candidates but notes that the donations occured in the eighties.
Heck, a lot of people :::cough::: were Democrats in the eighties who are not now.
Something tells me that this confirmation process will be far more interesting than that of now Chief Justice Roberts.
