Predictions on how people will act or vote are incredibly difficult. I could be wrong, close, right or extremely wrong. This post will not be an indication of my intelligence or a claim to know the pulse of America. I've lived in VA for 22 years and CA now for 14 years.
While I used to be a liberal before 1991, I heard an alternative viewpoint in 1991 which caused me to visit the library 3 times a week for a full year. I had a core belief change to libertarianism (wanting to cut government spending 80%) and have since wised up to be a centrist conservative (wanting government spending to stay the same for the next 10 years instead of increase as it has done every year for the last 6 decades).
While I've seen things from a different perspetive for the last 15 years and may not be wise to how most Americans will vote, I do know that there has been a tremendous shift since the drive-by legacy media lost their monopoly 20 years ago. One by one people like me are having a core belief change because they are exposed to the facts, common sense and an alternative viewpoint then the one that ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Wash Po, LA Times, Newsweek, etc has given them. One of my proudest moments of my life is converting one of my good friends who is a black American (he doesn't refer to himself as African American) to conservativism. In 1999 after a 9 hour political discussion (in a San Francisco bar and then later smoking cigars outside the hotel before we went to bed - in separate rooms - we were installing servers near where the SF Giants play) he told me he registered as a Republican and is attributing it to me. Does that mean Republicans are good and Democrats are bad? No. Does it mean that Republicans do no wrong and Democrats do only bad? No. But in general we agree with the philosophy that it's better to teach a man to fish than give him fish, use common sense and look at the results of a desired solution rather than "feel" what a solution might result in, and a strong national defense as the constitution specifies for, and promoting privatization and self reliance so that the government's ability to provide for non-able-bodied, elderly and/or children is not diluted by able bodied people and other non essential services.
So...... I guess this post has 3 purposes. 1) Tell you a little bit about my politics and where I come from 2) Hopefully help you see where conservatives come from if you are a political newbie and are going to vote tomorrow 3) Give you my PREDICTIONS!!!
My prediction is that neither the House or Senate will lose the amount of seats that Republicans hold. I'll give you a few reasons and I'll keep a few reasons in my head. :) Here are the few reasons that I'll share:
1) The PUNCH Foley for Negron campaign seems to be going well
2) Arnold's coat tails will help Republican Congress people in CA and Phil Angelides lack of support will draw down Democrat Congress people in CA. It might gain a few seats here in CA that people weren't even looking at.
3) I seriously doubt the accuracy of polls as I've been called a few times to answer poll questions myself and have hung up on these non-wording questions very well pollsters. I have two friends that only use mobile phone services and they are not getting questioned.
While these reasons may not be enough to substantiate my predictions and again.... I may be extremely wrong I'm hoping to have fun here posting and maybe even persuade people over time .....
