More do-it-yourself jihadis ram Glasgow Airport.
Two people have been arrested after a Jeep was driven into the terminal building at Glasgow airport and caught fire.I wonder if these "unsuccessful" attacks are meant to as some sort of distraction.
Witnesses reported hearing a series of loud "bangs" and saw two men - one of whom was on fire - emerge from the vehicle. There are reports of several injuries. [SNIP]
Hundreds of holidaymakers were in the area at the time, and witnesses said some of them removed gas cylinders from the jeep before it caught fire.
But there are reports the occupants - described as Asian males - were trying to pour petrol on the flames.
Scott Gleeson said he saw the jeep speed up and swerve towards the terminal at an angle to hit the door.
"They were obviously trying to get through to cause as much damage as possible," he said.
Holidaymaker Stephen Clarkson said he knocked one of the men to the floor before police intervened. [SNIP]
"Everyone was in a panic and police and security were scuffling with an Asian gentleman."
He added: "There was a lot of anger - if the crowds had got hold of this gentleman it would have been the end of him.

UPDATE: US Airport security tightens in response:
The Transportation Security Administration has taken steps to raise alertness at some airports, [White House spokesman Tony] Snow said. More TSA agents will be posted outside some terminals, he said. [SNIP]
Police stepped up curbside patrols with canine units at Hartsfield- Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates Newark Liberty in New Jersey and John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports in New York, took "a number of measures as we always do to respond to security situations immediately...
UPDATE: Suspect shouts "Allah, Allah!" as he tangles with the police.
UPDATE: Lots of people are wondering whether the attempted attack had anything to do with the fact that Queen Elizabeth happened be in Edinburgh today to attend the ceremonial opening of the Scottish Parliament.
The Queen has received condemnation from parts of the Islamic world for having knighted author Salman Rushdie. Rushdie's life has been in danger ever since Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini of Iran called for Rushdie's assassination nearly twenty years ago.
(Thanks to Hot Air for the last two updates)
UPDATE: Got to love this headline: "LAX, John Wayne react to Glasgow airport attack." Islamists have PO'd John Wayne so badly over the years that he rose up from the dead. Okay, not quite:
Los Angeles International airport officials increased deployment of uniformed patrol and K-9 units. Orange County's John Wayne Airport officials directed their security and operations personnel to increase visibility and patrol areas where the public congregates more frequently. [SNIP]
"Out of an abundance of caution, we have increased our deployment of uniformed patrol and K-9 officers within and around Los Angeles International Airport, as well as our three other airports," said the airport spokesman Marshall Lowe. The airports include Ontario, Van Nuys and Palmdale. "Police officials are in contact with Glasgow officials and are continuously seeking updates from them."
UPDATE: One burned to death at the scene; the other is hospitalized and in critical condition with severe burns. I'm trying not to be happy about it.
The latter was wearing a "suspect device" which caused authorities to evacuate the hospital until the device could be destroyed.
UPDATE: The death at the scene is unconfirmed. As things stand, three men and one woman are under arrest for the plot.
