Check the policies of the LAPL first. Many libraries will not accept donated replacements. Others will only take them if they're the exact edition/binding being replaced, to avoid re-cataloguing.

I received an email from the librarian who said that I had to replace the book plus a five dollar fee, so I assume that means a commercial copy of the book.

That's a seriously Good Deal.
