Making BLT

By James Cone. It's the narcissism, Stupid!

Wow. Completely self-absorbed.

"There are nine Supreme Court Justices. All of 'em white as far as I'm concerned. One may look black, but he's white." (@6:49)

Wow. How is Justice Thomas not black? Is it that race is about ideology now? Is it because he's in power? To be black you must be oppressed? What about that Senator Cone mentioned? How is he still black if he's in power? What does this mean for blacks who don't agree with Cone? Are they not black?

W.T.F.

He lost me when he said that BLT was a rejection of MLK's teachings because MLK worshiped a "white Jesus."

The weird thing is that he's talking about the generally accepted depictions of JC rather that Jesus himself. He acts as if the paintings equal the substance.

Nothing like listening to a fool remove all doubt about himself. I had to stop at 4 minutes when I pegged my fun meter. For a theologian, it seemed every other sentence was fisk worthy.

How ironic to accuse the white power of projecting their whiteness on Jesus, then turn around and project his blackness on Jesus, when Jews are neither.

And this is the theology he brags of developing - bring me to mind the verse about being wise in their own eyes and a fool before God. The sad thing about it is that so many simpletons buy up BLT lock, stock & barrel.

Memo to the Cone-heads: there's a reason Christianity doesn't address blackness. For those of you who brought your Bibles, turn to Galations 3:28:

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

Race, ethnicity, gender and status are all irrelevant to a human being's value to God. What more do you want?
