Another One-Act Play

He: The sky is blue.
She: No it’s not, it’s plaid.
He: Why are you saying that?
She: Because that the way I see it.
He: But it is the color that has been historically called blue.
She: I don’t see it that way.
He: (stops passing man and points at the sky) What color is that?
Man: Blue. (Man goes on his way.)
He: (stops another passing man and points at the sky) Welche Farbe is das?
Man 2: Blau. (Man goes on his way.)
He: (stops a woman and points at the sky) ¿De qué color es que?
Woman: Azul. (Woman goes on her way.)
He: See? Everyone sees blue up there.
She: But it’s not blue, it’s plaid.
He: No it’s not—it’s blue!
She: I have a right to say it’s plaid! Are you trying to infringe upon my rights?
He: What? This conversation doesn’t have anything to do with your r—
She: I see. I’ve hurt your feelings. You simply feel that the sky is blue. Well, I can’t do anything about your feelings. The sky is plaid and that’s that.
He: (pauses with jaw-dropped) Rights and feelings? The color of the sky is objectively blue! Plaid is not a single color! It’s a--
She: I’ll come back when you’ve calmed down. (walks away)

What matters the color of the sky, if it's owned by a plutocrat?

Juliette,
I was out door knocking here in Monterey, and am surprised at the level of resistance to Obama, even in this deep-blue Liberal stronghold.
A retired military officer in Pacific Grove alerted me to the Obama-Odinga connection, and Obama's active campaigning and support of Odinga in 2006.
Others were able to confirm that Obama did support Odinga, and that that Odinga incited racial violence that led to the deaths of over 1,500 and the displacement of 500,000 more.
CBS reported on Obama's trip to Kenya in 2006, but has never (to my knowledge) done a follow-up story on what happened after the election and the violence and murder.
I would greatly appreciate your perspective on this. I am deeply troubled by this political alliance. This is not some "random guy in the neighborhood" but someone Obama flew across an ocean to actively support.

Is this unattributed quote in the LiveLeak piece accurate?
"The people that are burning christians alive, trapped inside churches are Odinga supporters...Odinga (and most of his fanatical followers) are a Muslims who have pushed for Sharia Law, total banning of other religions and closing of co-ed schools, night clubs and 'public dressing style considered immoral'."
If so, then I think it is relevant . Why should Americans be urged to vote for someone who openly advocates for a politician like Odinga?

I did read the links, but it's not helping me to make sense of this. You are such a reasonable person, with an understanding of the dynamics in Kenya...I feel so terribly upset. There are two very different emotions. On the one hand, I so desperately want to give Sen Obama the benefit of the doubt. I don't support his policies or his approach, but I also don't want to see him smeared or conspiracy theories attributed to him just based on his heritage.
You can't hold someone responsible for the actions of their relatives and associates.
However...if the allegations that Sen Obama campaigned for Odinga and actively participated in his campaign are true...that is troubling. There are internet rumors that they remain in close contact. If so, the fact that Obama did not warn the US that this type of ethnic hatred could be possible, and did not speak out against it....
I have tears in my eyes as I type this. The absolute horror. The absolute horror. And...if one our elected members of Congress knew this was possible and did nothing....I can't accept this. I just can't.
What can we, here, do? What is possible? It sickens me that Odinga was rewarded for his reign of terror in some desperate Faustian bargain to buy peace.
History teaches us that this only buys a temporary peace. It is doubtable that Odinga would be pacified for long with the PM position.
This story appears to be all over now...the Washington Times just posted a commentary piece on the Obama-Odinga relationship.

Your play confuses me, as I live in CA. When you say "She," for example, is that because "She" thinks she's a "She?" And what about "He?"
A pox on you and your gender identities!
In the future, please use "Person 1" and "Person 2" when writing for publication in CA. Thank you.

Obama did "campaign" for Odinga by any reasonable take, and Obama's trip to Kenya was paid for by the US taxpayers. Past that, your own mileage.
Specifically, during his 2006 Kenyan tour Obama gave a speech in Kenya ripping on the existing government and then toured with Odinga, during which tour he "starred" at several Odinga rallies. It's pretty tough to find a way to rationalize that away from stumping FOR Odinga, given Obama's "star" status in Kenya during the trip. Before Obama went to Kenya on that trip, Odinga visited him in Washington several times over two years, and he sent his foreign policy aide as an advance man.
That does not make Obama a Kenyan citizen or a Muslim, which is how some have chosen to cast the trip. It means he met with Odinga several times in Washington over 2004-6, then went to Kenya and made a speech ripping the administration there, and then toured with Odinga in a way very favorable to Odinga.

PumaPrincess:
I chronicled the Kenya conflict here in the first part of the year when few were paying attention, except to make things up. I'm sorry but I'm not going to do it again.
On the one hand, I so desperately want to give Sen Obama the benefit of the doubt.
Why? Judge him the way you would judge any other candidate and vote on that basis.
